Welcome to Sustainable Pursuits, my name is Susie. I’m so glad you’ve decided to visit my site and join me on my journey to cut down on plastic waste and live more intentionally. So what can you expect from this blog and this journey?
Every month I will be challenging myself to create new habits that eliminate, or at least reduce, single use plastic from my daily routine. When we get to the end of the month, I will be evaluating how sustainable these new habits are for daily life, their impact on me as an individual, and their impact on the world as a whole. During the rest of the month, you can look forward to recipes, tips, and useful information on how you can also live a more sustainable life.*
When I look around my home, a lot of single-use plastics stem from the kitchen and eating out. So, as you would expect many of these new habits will revolve around food. But it’s not just plastic, I would love to cut down on other types of waste as well such as food, fabric, and paper waste. For now though, the focus is on plastic. This will help keep me from getting overwhelmed and bogged down with good intentions. After all, goals are best achieved when they are manageable.
This journey will also be about developing new skills in addition to changing habits. Not just skills when it comes to cooking, and possibly cleaning, but with crafting techniques as well. There are several plastic items, or disposable items, that can be replaced with fun home crafted reusable materials. I look forward to learning and sharing these crafts and reusable items with you.
I hope this journey can help inspire and provide some helpful tips and information that you can use in your daily life as well!
